We are a patient-focused biotech investment firm seeking an Investor to support our investments in lifesaving medicines.

About SymBiosis:

SymBiosis is a privately held investment firm that invests in cutting edge biotherapeutic companies across financing stages (seed through public). They invest in groundbreaking medicines treating and curing human disease with a focus on investing in companies that will get to human trials in the lifespan of the investment. SymBiosis expects to initially deploy $5-$15M per investment, with the ability to scale up to over $30M per investment across multiple financings. SymBiosis currently manages a portfolio of more than 30 investments and has significant, long-term capital commitments to fund future investments.

Location:

Bentonville, Arkansas; in-office 4 days/week August to May.

Opportunity:

The team is looking for an Investor who can anchor an investment diligence process. This includes everything from initial calls with investment targets and key opinion leaders to detailed data room reviews, financial modeling, investment memo writing, and post-close monitoring. SymBiosis has a well-defined investment process honed across dozens of investments and are looking for more bandwidth to help us pursue venture and public investments in cutting-edge medicines. Strong financial modeling skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly are essential for success at SymBiosis.

Ideal Candidate:

• Fast learner who is able to quickly understand new scientific or medical concepts and distill them to their commercial implications.
• Quantitative mindset and high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Completed a training program at an investment bank or consulting firm with at least two years of experience in pharma or biotech-related work.
• While formal PhD or MD scientific or medical training is a plus, it is not required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Financial Modeling & Valuation: Strong foundation in investment analysis with the ability to build detailed three-statement financial models quickly and accurately. Capable of forecasting cash flow and future company values across multiple scenarios. Solid understanding of common valuation methods, such as DCF, comparable company, and precedent transaction analysis.
• Investment Research: Ability to quickly absorb scientific and medical data and literature, identify key research questions, and extract information from a variety of sources to support investment decisions.
• Writing: Capable of explaining highly technical scientific and medical concepts and their implications for an investment thesis in clear, concise prose.
• Biopharma Development: A solid understanding of the main phases of biopharma development, from target identification to candidate selection, IND, clinical, regulatory, and commercial stages.
